ETRMA says the European tire market is recovering.

Recently, the European Tire and Rubber Manufacturers Association (ETRMA) announced its members' tire sales data for the first quarter of 2021.

It is reported that compared with the first quarter of 2020, all market segments of the tire industry have seen positive developments in this quarter. Among them, the replacement tire market grew by 12%; the all-season tire market grew by 39%, the winter tire market grew by 17%, and the summer tire market grew by 6%.

ETRMA said that the summer tire market growth is small, the reason may be related to the impact of COVID-19. Many European countries are still imposing strict travel restrictions, so many drivers are not changing their tires to summer tires.

"We are encouraged to see a recovery in all segments of the tire industry," said Ms. Fazilet Cinaralp, Secretary General of ETRMA. "2020 was a tough year, and now this market pick-up is a good sign for our industry and society, which is beginning to gradually recover."

She also expressed the hope that in the next few months, Europe will accelerate its vaccination program, lift travel restrictions and allow people to travel again.
